10 Unique Celebrity Cars

When you think of celebrity car collections, you probably think of something astronomically priced due to the superfluous gadgets and opulent paint jobs. Well not every celebrity wants the most expensive car; they just want the most unique car. And yes, that still means they can get expensive. This list isn’t just comprised of cheap cars, custom cars, or practical cars. In fact, this list is a combination of anything I found unique and interesting. So here is my top ten list of celebrity cars

10. James Hetfield’s 1936 Ford Iron Fist

This machine is rock & roll to its core. The Metallica lead singer blended the pure form of the the ’36 model and scrapped together a new suspension, steering column, and a cleverly hid A/C system. The Iron Fist has made appearances at a number of hot rod shows and is a sight to behold.

9. Ken Block’s RaptorTRAX

Ken Block is a world famous rally driver and has been at the forefront of modern professional driving. And with his quirky and fun personality, you’ve got to believe he has something fun to drive in his spare time. He has a Ford F-150 RaptorTRAX to help him tear up the snow. This six-speed automatic has 650 horsepower to help trample snow like the meanest yeti you ever did see.

8. Conan O’Brien’s Ford Taurus SHO

You’ve probably heard the gag at some point that Conan still drives a 1992 Ford Taurus. Whether or not this is true, it’s pretty funny. His sentimental attachment to the car is evident in the video below. I know I miss my two-tone brown 1985 Toyota Camry. So why can’t a multi-millionaire feel the same about his Taurus? I say keep on truckin’, Conan, or try to anyway; I’m not sure how much longer that baby’s going to hang on.

7. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Toyota Prius

You’d never think an Oscar winner would drive such a humble car. But Leonardo DiCaprio has a vested interest in the condition of the globe from an environmental perspective. Through his foundation, he helps agencies fight animal extinction and supports projects that restore ecosystems. The Prius is a sensible vehicle that has contributed to 2.1 billion gallons of gas not consumed since its introduction in 2000. I’d say that’s pretty remarkable and unique at the same time.

6. Chad Johnson’s Smart Car

Sticking with the theme of eco-conscious car owners, former NFL star Chad Johnson (Ochocinco…or whatever) decided to ditch (sorta) the lavish style most athletes are used to. He did manage to modify the Smart Car to his liking with flat black paint, black rims, and a new body kit, adding $25,000 to its original price. Hey, it might be flashy, but this black Smart Car is also as green as they get.

5. George Clooney’s Tango

One more eco-friendly car to keep us moving is George Clooney’s Tango. This little thing has a charge that runs 150 miles on lithium ion batteries. It’s not the greatest for company as it sits two, but only in tandem. But that sliver of a car can get into some tight spots. But don’t let its goofy figure fool you, the Tango can go 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. And if you’re worried about rolling over, it has the same threshold as a 911 Porsche.

4. Metta World Peace’s Hyundai Genesis

It’s a perfectly serviceable vehicle, the Hyundai Genesis. There’s just something about an athlete that chooses to be a little bit different, who else has an L.A. Laker theme on the custom paint job? Evidently, comedian George Lopez bought it for him once he agreed to a deal to play with the Lakers. Lopez offered a Rolls-Royce, but Metta wanted nothing to do with that. Plus, he just loves basketball:

3. Pope Francis’ Renault 4

I was as surprised as you are now. The Pope in anything other than the Popemobile seems weird. Although the two look very similar, I’m not sure that the Renault is bulletproof. But this all makes sense, doesn’t it? The Pope being unselfish and practical despite his probable wealth. And that’s really what you want in a Pope, isn’t it? Well, I’m not going to get into a religious discussion here, but you know what I mean. article-2418455-1bc1950a000005dc-953_634x394

2. Barry Weiss’ Blastolene Decko Liner

Barry Weiss is a regular on the TV program Storage Wars. But it’s not the show that has me intrigued. Barry doesn’t always drive this vehicle, but it’s clear he does sometimes, and why wouldn’t you? It’s like taking to the high seas. The best part of this baby? You can drive it while standing comfortably atop the roof.

  1. Jay Leno’s EcoJet

Jay Leno has more cars than he knows what to do with. I wanted to steer clear of super rich people and their expensive cars on this list, but I couldn’t help myself with this one. It’s  a turbine car fueled by biodiesel and puts out 650hp. This thing’ll suck the paint off your house as it roars by. Heck, it even sounds like a jet when standing idle. It even beat a jet plane in a race on the runway (up to 160mph). This supercar is truly one of a kind.
