I’m not a tire guy. Or…I wasn’t at one time. But the beauty of tires is that they’re learnable. And beyond that, they are necessary to be learned. Prior to coming to RightTurn, I probably felt about tires the way I feel about my hair. Much like tires eventually do, my head went bald. So I felt that this is what I got and I’m stuck with it. If I replaced it (my hair), I’d still get the hair I had, right? I wouldn’t get curly hair. Or different color hair. So what’s this got to do with tires? Well when it’s time to replace tires, you want to be educated on what tires will be best suited for your vehicle. And that’s more than just saying, “Gimme the same ones as last time.” It’s complicated, but not really. We are here at RightTurn to make things easy for you.

Pirelli

A High-Profile Company Making More Than Low-Profile Tires

Pirelli, like most modern tire manufacturers, didn’t start out making tires alone. But unlike most modern tire companies, Pirelli has been around for 140 years. So let’s take a look where Pirelli started and some of the highlights from its long history. Strong Foundations In 1872, a young engineer by the name of Giovanni Battista Pirelli started G.B. Pirelli & Company to make products out of rubber after the recent discovery … Continue reading

April Fools’ Car Pranks

April Fools’ Day can be gimmicky and many pranksters can be overzealous in the pranks they pull. In many ways, modern April Fools’ Day jokes have jumped the shark. It’s been a while since we packed up the car and hightailed it out of town. This time you better bring your snow boots. Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you should hunker down all winter. The warm weather will soon return, but until it does, take advantage of the majesty of Niagara Falls in the wintertime. Why Niagara Falls in Winter? Irish Contributions to the Auto Industry

Most modern celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day consist of daylong consumption of corned beef, cabbage, and green beer. But Ireland, and St. Patrick himself, gave the world more than just a reason to dye a river green. Not exactly known for their automotive achievements globally, Irish cars — past and present — have made some iconic contributions to the auto industry that are widely recognizable and quite notable. Not to … Continue reading

Female Engineers in the Auto Industry

In 1987, March was declared Women’s History Month. Which sadly, seems much too late to celebrate the contributions of women to better the world we live in. History is inescapable and showcases how we got from there to here. Ignoring the significant accomplishments of women in history creates a mindset in people to live rootless lives, which can be damaging to current and future endeavors. So here we are … Continue reading

Roads of the Future

When my eldest sister had to drive me around town before I got my license I recall her once saying, “They can send a man to the moon but they can’t make roads that don’t get potholes.” Little did she know that those are two completely different professions and to use them interchangeably is just silly. But after thinking about her comment, roads haven’t really changed over my lifetime and … Continue reading

White House Wheels and the Presidential Motorcade

Being the President of the United States I’m sure has its difficulties, but it has to be super cool just because of the cars. Nowadays, the presidential motorcade includes a car that makes James Bond’s Aston Martin look like amateur hour. Nicknamed “The Beast” or “Cadillac One” or “First Car,” the official car of the president has many secrets we could never know about; however, there are some things we … Continue reading
