Tell Us Your Car Games for Kids

While the rest of the country gives moms one day, RightTurn is giving them the entire month of May! As a mother, I know a lot of us spend a lot of time in our cars which is a perfect tie-in to what we care about second only to our children. Tires. Ok that might be an exaggeration but we do care a lot about tires. We posed some questions to the mothers in our lives and thought we’d share some of the responses with you. Our first question was What types of games do you play in your car to entertain your kids?

Some of the more popular answers:

  • I Spy
  • Sing songs. Very fun especially around Christmas!
  • Guess that song: name and artist
  • Play on a tablet
  • License plate game – try to find one from each state
  • Alphabet game
    • This game allows for lots of customization!
      One mom’s twist:
I’m going on a trip and I’m going to…first letter/last letter. For example, if I say I’m going on a trip and I’m going to Chicago, you have to say you’re going on a trip to a city or state that starts with an “O.”
  • Red light, green light
  • Pulling down our arms to signal truckers to honk

Of course, the infamous quiet game received a lot of shout-outs. You know the one: who can be the quietest? Hey, sometimes, especially on the longer car trips, you just need a moment or two of silence. I can relate.

The most Original Game Award goes to Natalie S.

Spot the road kill. Every animal is 10 points and a deer is worth 50. We play to 100. If you call an animal and it’s not one, you lose 10 points.

The Original Game Award Runner-Up goes to Jan P.

We have party favors that you wear to make your nose an animal nose. There was an elephant, a pig, parrot and mouse. The kids wear them in the car and pay attention to the reactions of other cards on the road, especially at stop lights.
